Distance Selling Terms and Conditions (22 August 2011)
All orders placed with Zinc Home Technologies wholly via website (www.zinc-ht.com), email, post or telephone are subject to these Distance Selling Terms and Conditions (DST&C). By placing an order with Zinc Home Technologies you confirm that you have read, and agree to be bound by, DST&C.
DST&C only applies to transactions that are subject to Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 (DSRs) – i.e. “Distance Selling” transactions (DST’s) carried out without face-to-face contact with the seller. Different terms and conditions apply to purchases that are not DST’s. DSRs give you certain cancellation rights.
Website prices (including charges for services), product availability, delivery times and returns policies apply only to orders placed entirely through the website and will differ for purchases made through our store.
DST&C and all transactions relating to our website (and all obligations arising therefrom) are governed by English law and subject to the jurisdiction of the English courts. DST&C only governs our website, and any other websites you may link to from our site will be governed by their own terms and conditions. We do not accept any responsibility or liability for the contents or operation of other websites.
No amendments to these terms and conditions will be accepted unless agreed in writing by the directors of S&I Electronics Plc.

When you place an order you are making an offer to purchase products or services from us. On placing an order you may be advised of an order number and may receive an order confirmation acknowledging our receipt of your order. Advice of your order number and / or receipt of an order confirmation do not constitute our acceptance of your offer.
Your offer is only accepted by us when we issue you with an invoice. Our contract with you only begins when we accept your offer.
If we unintentionally publish erroneous information (e.g. incorrect price, availability or description) about a product you have ordered, we may cancel your order at any time up to the point when we accept your offer. If we cancel your order you will receive a refund of any charges paid in respect of the item(s) cancelled.
We will attempt to take payment in GB Pounds when you place your order. Our taking payment does not constitute acceptance of your offer, and we may cancel your order for any reason (including, but not limited to, unavailability of stock, change in prices, or our being unable to verify your identity or address) up to the point when we accept your offer.
To protect you from fraud, we may attempt to confirm your identity and address with third parties – e.g. we may provide your name and address to a third party to check against public and private databases. By placing an order you agree to us undertaking such checks.
Some products may be subject to minimum age restrictions – e.g. some films and computer games. By ordering a product that is subject to age restrictions you are confirming that you are at least of the minimum age required. We may check your age through third parties.
Refund of VAT cannot be claimed by non-UK residents where an order has been delivered to a UK address. Please note that we reserve the right to refuse any order requiring delivery outside the United Kingdom.
Seven-Day Cancellation Period
Under DSRs, subject to certain conditions, you are entitled to a seven-day cancellation period during which you can cancel your order and receive a refund.
You must cancel your order in writing. Your written cancellation should include your name, address, contact telephone number and details of the order being cancelled. You may cancel an order for a product, even if you have just changed your mind (and even if you have opened the product to inspect it), subject to the following:
- You must cancel your order within seven working days (i.e. all days other than Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays) after the day of delivery.
- You must return the product to us at your expense within five working days from the date you cancel your order.
- The product must be returned “as new” and in merchantable condition.
- For most products, you may open the packaging to inspect the item. However, electronic media (e.g. Blu-Ray discs, DVDs, CDs and memory cards), software, and personal hygiene products (e.g shavers, hair trimmers, hair straighteners, etc.) must not have been used, and must have the packaging seals intact.
- The product must be returned in the original and undamaged (albeit opened) packaging, along with manuals, accessories and any gifts we have given you.
- The product must not have been used, except briefly for inspection purposes (N.B. some products must not be used at all), or installed or altered or programmed, nor had data inputted.
- Refunds will be given for the product purchase price and the charge for delivering the product to you at the cheapest rate (where applicable - see Delivery below). You will have to bear the cost of returning the product to us, and there will be no refund of this cost.
- We cannot cancel your purchase of, or provide a refund for, any:
- product that comes with a contract for services and you have already started using the services (e.g. a mobile phone);
- product that was a special order for you, or was configured to your specifications;
- electronic media or software or personal hygiene product that has been used and / or has broken packaging seals.
You may cancel an order for a service, even if you have just changed your mind, subject to the following conditions:
- You must cancel your order for a service within seven working days from the day after the contract is concluded.
- You have not used the service, nor allowed performance of the service to start. N.B. You agree to the service starting before the end of the cancellation period if you allow performance of the service to start within the cancellation period - in which case you will lose your right to cancel the service as soon as performance of the service starts.
Refunds will usually be credited to the payment card you used to pay for the product. However in exceptional circumstances, and at our sole discretion, we reserve the right to refund you by other means including a company cheque or by cash payment.
Our returns policy does not effect your statutory rights. You can obtain details of your legal rights from your local trading standards office.
We may offer a range of delivery choices for a product - the cheapest delivery service and additional, faster, delivery services at greater cost. If you choose the cheapest delivery service and then cancel your order under the terms listed in Seven-Day Cancellation Period above, we will refund you the full cost of the product and delivery.
If you choose one of the faster delivery services, this is an additional service that you have ordered, and you agree to this service starting before the end of the seven-day cancellation period, and you will lose your right to cancel the faster delivery service as soon as the product is delivered. If you then cancel your order under the terms listed in Seven-Day Cancellation Period above, we will refund you the cost of the product and the cheapest delivery option (which could be nothing where the slowest delivery option is free).
If you do not agree to the faster delivery service starting before the end of the cancellation period, choose the cheapest delivery option or cancel your order immediately.
Your product will be delivered to you by courier, post or by our own delivery staff. Your order confirmation will give details of when you can expect your delivery (this may depend on the delivery service you have selected). Delivery of stock items is usually between three and fourteen working days. If the product is not in stock, delivery can take up to six weeks for non-special order items. Products ordered especially for you or to your specifications may take up to four months. If your order was for more than one item, it is possible that you will receive the items separately.
Our delivery service is for delivery to a ground floor building entrance only. We only deliver to mainland UK. Unfortunately we cannot deliver any items to BFPO (British Forces Post Office) addresses.
Your Old Appliance
Many appliances are bulky and are packed in bulky packaging. You should disconnect and remove your old appliance prior to the arrival of your new appliance. Please note that any gas operated appliance (including dual fuel appliances) should be disconnected by a Gas Safe registered engineer and mains operated electric cookers should be disconnected by a qualified person.
If you order an installation service for a product, you agree to the service starting before the cancellation period ends if you allow the installation to take place within the cancellation period. In this case you will lose your right to cancel the installation service as soon as performance of the service starts. Furthermore you may lose your right to return the product under the terms listed in Seven-Day Cancellation Period above if it has been installed.
To keep your right to return a product under the terms listed in Seven-Day Cancellation Period above, order the product without installation service and inspect the product when it is delivered. After the seven-day cancellation period for the product ends, order the installation service separately.
If a product becomes faulty within 21 days of delivery we will exchange (or refund at our option) the faulty product if it is returned in “as new” condition and complete with all manuals, accessories and literature, and with any gifts provided with the product, and if possible in the original packaging. We will arrange for a courier to collect the faulty product.
If a product becomes faulty more than 21 days after delivery but within the manufacturers warranty period (which for most products is 12 months), we will arrange for the product to be repaired (or replaced at our option).
You must report a faulty item in writing, advising your name, address, contact telephone number and details of the product and the fault. Send your report by email to email@example.com or post to Meteor House, Manor Way, Borehamwood, WD6 1QQ.
Please note that all items sold by Zinc Home Technologies are for normal domestic use and are not intended for resale or commercial use. We will only provide after-sale warranty service for customers purchasing products directly from Zinc Home Technologies. Commercial use of a product may invalidate the warranty.
Our after-sale warranty service covers product faults resulting from defective workmanship, design or materials. Our warranty service does not cover faults arising from normal wear and tear or resulting from accident, misuse or neglect. The after-sale warranty service for consumable products / items is limited to three months from date of delivery.
Our warranty policy does not effect your statutory rights. You can obtain details of your legal rights from your local trading standards office.
S&I Electronics Plc and our suppliers own the intellectual property rights (including copyright and trademarks) in all material and content on this website.
You may download, copy, transmit, or otherwise use the contents of this website only for your own personal and non-commercial use, and solely for the purpose of deciding whether or not to purchase products or services from Zinc Home Technologies. All other uses of the material or content is strictly prohibited, as is the creation of a link to this website without our prior written consent.
